There are few things better than new music being released by one of your favorite bands.

But even more exciting than new music alone is when one of your favorite band releases new music for the first time in five years, announces a merch line to go along with the new song, and releases exclusive vinyls and coffee all within one month.

And that is exactly what Motion City Soundtrack has done.

At the end of July the band announced the release of their new single “Cooked Ways,’ which was written over a decade ago and produced by Mark Hoppus.

Now, to keep the hype going and help fans continue to get through the summer of no concerts, the band have just released a new “Crooked Ways” merch collection- which features t-shirts, long sleeves, baseball caps and more.

But that’s not all Motion City has released recently.

While the ongoing pandemic has prevented the band from touring and subsequently has put their crew out of work, the band released limited copies of a 7″ vinyl that was originally part of their 2020 tour VIP package. The vinyl includes alternate versions of the band’s singles “Capital H” and “Mary Without Sound,” and all proceeds from vinyl sales will be split between going to the band’s crew and to Save Our Stages, an organization dedicated to helping save independent venues from closure amidst the pandemic.

‪Hey there, good friends. We just wanted to let you know that a while back we re-recorded some old songs for a 7” gift last tour as part of our VIP program. Thinking about what we could do to give our crew a brief reprieve from the horrors of daily living, as well as @nivassoc #saveourstages we though we’d unload the extra 7” records and donate the money. @niicethingsco was gracious enough to set this up for us. They are limited, so time is of the essence. If you can’t afford this, please spread the word. Do what you can. We ain’t shit without our crew. And the independent venues we went to as young punks were responsible for giving us safe spaces to be ourselves and shape/warp our little emotional minds. As always, Lincoln Bio.‬

The vinyl’s release is limited, though, so fans are advised to buy as soon as possible to ensure that they don’t miss out.

And for those who aren’t vinyl collectors, or those looking for something a little more ‘consumable’ the band has them covered as well, with the announcement of their second collaboration with Legal Speed Coffee.

Released at the end of August, the Caffeinate and Donate collection is a limited batch of coffee brewed by Legal Speed in collaboration with MCS to help raise money for the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund. Made with hints of milk chocolate, lavender and brown sugar, the brew is limited to only 200 bags and runs $20 a package- which is a great deal for any classic emo fans looking to stay caffeinated and donate to a good cause.
