This Friday we have been absolutely blessed with brand new music from several of our favorite artists.

From brand new albums by Taylor Swift, Neck Deep, and Broadside to a wide variety of new singles- today has been a full music overload, in the best way.

And to ensure that you stay up to date on the week’s best releases, we have compiled yet another New Music Friday list, saturated with everything from Go Radio’s new song to the debut single from R&B artist Jimi to two new pop punk bands.

So let’s dive in.

“So Love” by Go Radio

Kicking off our new music playlists is one of our favorite artists, Go Radio.

After going on an indefinite hiatus in 2013, Go Radio made their return to music late last year after announcing both a reunion and a two track EP including an updated recording of their hit single “Goodnight Moon” as well as their (then) new song, “Say It Again”

Now, Go Radio are back with another new single titled “So Love.”

A soft ballad driven by the band’s signature piano instrumentals, “So Love” advises the importance of telling those you love that you love them before it’s too late, a message that is not lost on listeners in the present uncertainty of the world.

A beautiful and emotional song, “So Love” is the perfect catalyst back into our 2012 playlists where all we listened to was “Close the Distance” on repeat. If this is the beginning of Go Radio’s career in the new decade, we are more than ready to welcome them with open arms.

“Rain in LA” by Via Fiori

After forming earlier this year, Via Fiori have quickly made their way into our daily playlists and become a staple in our new music playlists, especially when they keep releasing bop after bop. And today’s new track “Rain in LA” is no different.

A pop punk track through and through, “Rain in LA” is about struggling to find and stay true to yourself in a place where nothing makes sense. In frontman Jake Bundrick’s case, the track navigates his struggle to adapt to the differences between sunny Los Angeles and his home in Georgia.

And while the song is distinctly Via Fiori, with Bundrick adding personal flair both vocally and instrumentally, “Rain in LA” is the first Via Fiori release so far that sonically relates to Bundrick’s main band- Mayday Parade, reminiscent of the band’s earlier work, such as “Tales Told by Dead Friends.” And though we think it is important to separate the two, we think this track is perfect segue from Mayday to Via for any fans who are looking for a good first track to dive into.

“Problematic” by Twin XL

Twin XL quickly became one of our favorite bands after their debut last year. With each new release they solidify their spot in our top ten as we watch them carve their own genre and style out of each member’s unique musical history. And today, we are happy to say that their new single “Problematic” is just as fantastic as their previous releases.

Though “Problematic” has made its debut at several Twin XL shows prior to the global shut down, today marks the song’s official release, just two months after their last single “Melt.”

With a classic mix of snyth pop, groovy bass lines, and catchy guitar, the song talks about a toxic relationship that leaves the narrator struggling to stand their ground and get out of the “problematic” situation.

And in true Twin XL fashion, the track also came with a new music video, starring the three band members in their signature matching suits and relaxed vibes- giving us the perfect visuals to match the song.

“Half in Love” by Erin Kirby

A soulful, piano driven track, “Half in Love,” is a heartbreaking ballad about wanting to fall into a new love but being unable to because your heart is not fully open after being broken by a past relationship.

Showcasing Kirby’s vulnerability, “Half in Love” is one of the most honest and gut wrenching new releases of this week, and is something that listeners of all ages can relate to as they recall romances of their pasts (or presents). It is a song you can listen to and cry to, while also finding comfort in the fact that you are not alone in your feelings.

“New Sensations” by Sunsleep

Another new pop rock release from this week is brought to you by Sunsleep, who are making waves with their new single “New Sensations.”

A five piece pop punk band, Sunsleep first made their musical debut in 2017 with the release of their single “Fever.” After realizing their potential as a full-time band rather than solely an in-studio project, Sunsleep then went on to release an EP and several singles together, the most recent being “Dead” back in May.

Now, the band are giving fans even more music to listen to with “New Sensations,” which is a groovy rock track that is impossible to listen to while standing still. With a poppy drum line and catchy lyrics, the song is one of our favorites of the week and have certified Sunsleep as a band we need to keep our eyes on.

“Lonely Planet” by Grizzly Coast

Being in isolation can cause anyone to feel lost, which is exactly the feeling Grizzly Coast’s new single “Lonely Planet” dives into.

An indie pop track about feeling alone in a world seemingly full of excitement, “Lonely Planet” was inspired by singer Alannah Kavanagh’s own struggles with keeping her head above water as she navigated living alone and battling with mental illness.

Now, as one of the leading singles off of her new six track EP, “Party of One,” “Lonely Planet” has taken on an entirely new meaning as the singer shares it with listeners who are experiencing isolation on a global scale during the COVID-19 pandemic.

It’s okay to be alone and it’s okay to be unsure of where to go from here, and “Lonely Planet” reminds listeners that despite their feelings of isolation and fears that nobody else understands what they are going through, there are others who feel the same way, and together (with the help of this song) they can find a comfort in their solitude.

And if you like what you hear, you can listen to Grizzly Coast’s EP, “Party of One” in full here.

“Talking To Myself” by Sleeping With Sirens

Sleeping With Sirens may have released their latest album “How It Feels to be Lost” less than a year ago, but they are not ready to be done giving fans new music and new album related content. Which is why today, the band dropped their latest single “Talking To Myself.”

A heavier rock track, “Talking To Myself,” navigates struggling on your own while simultaneously wishing the best for those around you. With the potent chorus “I’m not talking shit, I’m just talking to myself,” the song reminds listeners that it’s okay to be unsure of yourself,

In addition to the new track, the band also announced “How It Feels to Be Lost (Deluxe)” – an updated version of their 2019 album with brand new songs including three acoustic tracks.

The album will be available August 21st, and you can preorder it here.

“Say It To Me” by Jimi

Meet Jimi, your soon to be new R&B obsession who is ready to serenade you with her brand new single “Say It To Me.”

Released on the 17th, “Say It To Me” is the debut single by the Canadian based singer/songwriter, and is the perfect soulful ballad to introduce listeners to the singer’s extremely controlled and angelic sounding vocals.

With little instrumental backing and minimal lyrics, the song puts heavy focus on Jimi’s voice, kicking her career off by showcasing her vulnerability and range all while letting listeners get a taste of what sounds to expect from future releases. It is a calm, romantic sounding song that will have all listeners feeling relaxed and in love.

“My Limited French” by Wasting Time

A pop punk track about falling in love while getting to know somebody, “My Limited French” is the latest single by Canadian rockers Wasting Time.

An uptempo song that features punchy instrumentals led by a potent percussion line, “My Limited French” is the first single from Wasting Time’s upcoming sophomore album “Once More Without Feeling,” which will be released later this year.

With repetitive choral lines, the track is an easy listen for anyone looking to be hyped up by some classic and romantic pop punk. It’s fun, danceable, and easy to sing along to- all of our favorite marks of good new music.

“Fire” by Lexie

Another track that was released last week and somehow slipped under our radar is Lexie’s latest single, “Fire.”

A slow R&B meets country meets acoustic track, “Fire” is about being ready to dive into a new relationship but being met with uncertainty from your partner due to their past relationships.

“I can’t lie, I really love this song – it reminds me of the kind of song you’d hear at the end of a high school Netflix show,” Lexie shares. “You know when you meet someone and really like them, but it feels like no matter what you do, you’ll never fill the shoes of the person that was there before.”

“Good Gone Away” by Two Eyes Open

It’s no secret that Second Society Report are big fans of pop punk, and this week we are super excited to share the new single “Good Gone Away” from rising pop punk artist Two Eyes Open.

A song about navigating the worst parts of a relationship, specifically the fighting and wondering if toughing it out is worth it, “Good Gone Away” has all classic pop punk elements, including a memorable chorus, catchy drum line and several acoustic guitar solos accompanied by isolated vocals.

And in addition to the song being released today, it also debuted alongside a new music video, filmed entirely DIY style featuring clips of live performance intercut with a look into the singer’s relationship, starring his real life girlfriend- a perfect representation of the song’s message with a beautiful ending subtly showing the realization that love is always worth it.

“Snakehold” by Sebastian Gaskin

Another track released the 17th, “Snakehold” is the latest single by R&B singer Sebastian Gaskin.

Inspired by a toxic relationship Gaskin found himself stuck in for several years, “Snakehold” is all about learning to break free from someone’s grasp- specifically when they have a hold on your heart.

With a very dreamy opening verse showcasing Gaskin’s vocals, the song starts off slow before picking up into an R&B meets EDM pulse that makes you want to dance along and blast it from your speakers as you speed down a California freeway. (Even if you’re just doing so in your mind as you bop along while laying in bed.)

And for Gaskin’s wishes for what listener’s take away from the track?

“I hope “Snakehold” makes you dance, and gives you the confidence to walk away from whatever shitty situation you might find yourself in.”
