Fresh off the heels of their biggest headline show yet, at the Avalon in Los Angeles this past Wednesday, the Nashville-based alt-pop trio is back with new single, “Lose My Number.”

The group has actively promoted the track on TikTok as well as with some direct fan interaction, providing a phone number for fans to text. While there are some automated messages involved, they’ve been responding for real. It’s not a new concept, but a popular one as of late (I’ve got Hunter Hayes and Halsey saved in my phone as well) and a fun, personal way to hold fans over until a potential in-person tour now that live music is slowly but surely returning in full force.

In “Lose My Number,” a short but sweet mid-tempo pop track, lead singer Jonathan Capeci pulls the plug on a toxic relationship, gladly handing his lover off to someone else to suffer through.

“So test your luck with someone else, see if they can handle you.”

The “La-la-la-la, lose my number” hook is one of the bands catchiest and most instantly memorable yet, and will be sure to be a crowd favorite at live shows. The lushness and warmth of Capeci’s lower register, which he stays in for much of the track, displays his apoplectic tone with no hint of vulnerability; “You just wanna rip my heart in two. I don’t wanna let you, I just wanna (la-la-la) let you go, we’re through”. The group is playing into their brand of sad boy hours/”Chill Vibes” playlisting type songs that have caused a massive surge of popularity over the last year, which is well-deserved.
