If the past year has taught us anything, it’s the importance of being mindful of your money and where it goes to. Whether that means creating a small savings fund, finding ways to reign in your spending, or just finding a way to have enough money to stay above water all while supporting ourselves and the people/causes that matter to us. Especially after the pandemic has caused so many of us to experience financial insecurity in a way we may have never imagined- causing us to come face to face with the reality that money may truly be the root of all evils.

But not only is financial security something we have now all had to think about, but also the reality that having a place to live is not guaranteed, and for many- it is a financial obstacle that is out of reach.

From the costs of houses rising, to constant rent increases across the country, there is a clear housing crisis taking place and genre-mixing artist Pusher is here to comment on just that with the release of his new single “I Can’t Believe It.”

A funky 80s electro- meets modern pop track, “I Can’t Believe It” is a commentary on the seemingly never-ending costs of being alive, but specifically the costs of having a house.

Inspired by the singer’s own experience with finding a place to live and how modern costs have skyrocketed, thus preventing millions of people around the world from settling down at a younger age, the track repeats the extremely relatable chorus “I can’t believe you bought a house at my age,” and leaves listeners pondering their own financial struggles.

And though the track does have a hard hitting message, it plays like an upbeat party track- leaving you ready to fight the system and also take a quick dance break.

“I Can’t Believe It is a very fun song about not being able to afford a house, and feeling behind where I thought I’d be in life. I was mostly thinking of how astounding it is that my parents were able to buy a big house with an acre of land for like $80k in the 90s, while I was sharing a 650sqft concrete condo at the same age,” PUSHER shares. “The real enemy is capitalism and my weapon of choice is this funky bop. I was also fortunate to get Danae Greenfield to play an incredible keyboard solo feature on it.”
