PVRIS have done it again.

Three years after the release of their last full length album, the alt-rockers are back with the debut of their brand new album “Use Me.”

Released earlier this morning, “Use Me” is a follow up to 2019’s “Hallucinations” EP, featuring 11 tracks in total, including three off of the EP and two previously released singles.

With new tracks “Stay Gold, “Good to be Alive,” and “Wish You Well” providing up-beat alt-rock vibes similar to the band’s previous releases, the band also showcases their softer side with the emotional and stripped down “Loveless,” and “January Rain.”

The album also features the band’s first credited vocal feature on an original release, with rapper 070 Shake adding additional vocals on the title track.

As for where the album’s title came from, “Use Me” is a phrase that serves a double meaning for the band’s vocalist and front woman Lynn Gunn.

“It’s very much a double sided statement. It’s about feeling tied down and drained, but also recognizing that music is made to help and heal,” she told Kerrang in a feature run earlier this week.

“So [I’m] telling people to go ahead and use this album for whatever they need, especially if you’re having to shrink yourself down to please others.”

In addition to being the band’s most ambitious and sonically unique release to date- “Use Me” also marks the band’s first full release where Gunn is credited as the main writer and instrumentalist- separating herself from PVRIS’ former member Alex Babinski and bassist Brian MacDonald.

And while this change seems sudden to some fans, Gunn shared in her interview with Kerrang that she had been the creative force behind the project for years, but did not feel comfortable announcing that until she felt it was the right time and was pressured by MacDonald to come clean.

In fact, the entirety of 2019’s “Hallucinations” EP and today’s “Use Me” were solely recorded and written by Gunn, with added keyboards and production by JT Daly- proving PVRIS’ move away from a trio to a solo project and indicating a public shift coming in the near future.

And though he had no part in the creation of “Use Me,” this release comes just two days after PVRIS announced the removal of Alex Babinski from their lineup, amidst sexual misconduct allegations. Babinski has denied all allegations and has announced his pursuance of legal action against the claims.

As of now, PVRIS consists solely of Gunn, with occasional appearances by MacDonald, who is anticipated to join Gunn on future tours.

And while “Use Me” is less than one day old, we cannot wait to see where Gunn takes this project next.
