Shallow Pools are easily one of Massachusetts’ best kept secrets. That is, if you can consider one of the best bands to come out of the state in the past decade with a growing fanbase of over 20 thousand listeners a secret.

Having steadily gained a following since their debut EP “Spring” in 2019, the four piece group are now preparing to dominate 2021 with their second release of the year and latest taste of their upcoming EP- a new single titled “glow.”

An 80s synth-pop inspired anthem, “glow” is a dreamy ode to life and love in whatever form you may find it.

Inspired by both the idea of platonic and romantic relationships, the track documents spending a night out with someone you care about- and the carefree feelings, joy, and fulfillment that come with.

Keeping listener’s intrigued with the engaging instrumentals and familiar accents provided by recordings of the band’s home city of Boston, as well as relatable lyrics, “glow” helps keep us feeling nostalgic and hopeful for times when we can once more reunite with our friends in public spaces.

“We had been wanting to write an uplifting song that was heavily influenced by 80’s pop, so “glow” came together very naturally for us,” the band shares. “After being inspired by city lights and sounds, we decided to sample the sound of an orange line train in Boston. We built the song around the sample and incorporated city elements into the lyrics.”

In addition to the single itself, Shallow Pools also released an accompanying music video, which showcases the band having fun throughout the city of Boston, and taking in life while embracing the “glow” of the streetlights.

“The song feels a bit nostalgic to us now that we are deep into a pandemic, but we hope that it brings listener’s some hope at the same time.”

You can stream “glow,” as well as the band’s previous single “ice water” out now, wherever you stream music- and be sure to follow along on social media for updates on all things Shallow Pools and their upcoming EP.
