The LA based punk quintet, Spanish Love Songs, put their spin on a deluxe record with Brave Faces Etc. which reimagines the songs from their 2020 release Brave Faces Everyone

The band are not strangers to re-working their previous work. Over on their Patreon they have been revisiting their works from previous albums and putting a new spin on them.

When talking about the reasons for creating this reimagines record, singer Dylan Slocum said:

“This was our chance to try out some of the things we didn’t get to do on the original, whether due to budget, running out of time, etc. … we saw it as a chance to challenge ourselves a bit musically, and expand the sound of the band to better reflect where we’re all at in terms of songwriting and production.”

So far the band has released ‘etc. versions’ of “Optimism (As a Radical Life Choice)” and “Generation Loss”, with the rest of the record set to be released on April 15, 2022.

Brave Faces, Etc. tackles tales of addiction, depression, debt and death in juxtaposition to emerging societal issues like mass shootings, the opioid epidemic, and climate change. Through these stories Slocum seeks to find the balance between realism and optimism, that is, if one can be found.
