Emo music is alive and well in 2022.

With the announcement of When We Were Young Festival sending emo kids and adults across the world into a frenzy earlier this month, it’s been clear that the side part, skinny jean wearing, sad music culture we all threw ourselves into in the early 2000s really wasn’t a phase.

And as if that festival (and all of the other new tour/album announcements) weren’t enough, a special new trio has us formed to help us continue to ride that wave of excitement and once more feel like it’s 2007 again.

Enter “Loved You A Little,” the latest collaborative single by The Maine, Taking Back Sunday, and rising pop artist Charlotte Sands.

Released this past Friday, “Loved You A Little” is a perfect blend of deep cutting, heart wrenching lyrics and the upbeat pop punk style all three of these artists are best known for.

A breakup tune at it’s core, there is nothing about “Loved You A Little” that isn’t emo in essence. From the artists performing to the emotion behind the lyrics- this track is the perfect answer to a year of uncertainty, longing and hope that the future will be better than our pasts.

“This song is for anyone feeling like they wasted their time on a feeling,” The Maine’s John O’Callaghan shares. “Adam and Charlotte both gave that sentiment more energy than I could have ever imagined and now we get to share it all with you.”

And though the track was penned by The Maine, with vocal credits going to Sands and Adam Lazzara (TBS), the single perfectly melds all three artist’s unique vocals and ranges all while letting them each shine as individuals.

“It was such an honor to be a part of “Loved You A Little” and I am still pinching myself at the idea that I’m singing on a song with two of my favorite singers and bands of all time and they’ve both been and continue to be huge inspirations for me as a writer, performer, and artist,” Sands shares.

“John and Adam are two of the best vocalists in existence and I’m thankful to them for trusting me with this song. I hope you love it as much as I do.”

A perfect example of a collaboration done right, this track has us begging for more emo collaborations in the future.

You can stream “Loved You A Little” out now wherever you stream music and be sure to catch The Maine on their upcoming U.S. headlining tour this spring.
