Transviolet first landed on our radar earlier this year after releasing their latest single “Drugs In California,” and now the band are back with some stunning new content as they have just released the track’s accompanying music video.

The new video, which dropped this morning, was directed by Kyle Vorbach and showcases someone taking a diamond pill in order to experience a new kind of high- one that makes them feel as though they are on the top of the world and living out their biggest performance dreams.

But with this new high comes a dangerous low, as well as body altering side effects and a dangerous risk of ‘overdosing,’ which the video showcases through visual effects and choreography.

Reminding viewers of the message behind the track- which is a cautionary tale of getting to wrapped up in the concept of fame and celebrity culture- the video encourages us all to take a step back from the toxic forces in our own lives and provides a sobering reminder that living for ourselves is truly the best way to live.

“Director Kyle Vorbach, Cinematographer Skyler Bocciolatt and I wanted to create a dystopian world where the feeling of fame had been synthesized, and you could take a diamond pill to feel adored. But like the real thing, this glamorous drug comes with horrifying side effects,” shares vocalist Sarah McTaggart.

The high of performing has been something I’ve been craving desperately during this pandemic. It’s weird to put out music and not know if you’ll ever get to play it live. Being on stage is a place where I feel completely liberated, completely myself. Feeling heard, loved and connected is what inspired me to start making music in the first place. I think it can be really beautiful to receive that from others, but I’m also grateful I’ve had this time away, where I had to face some demons, and learn how to give those things to myself.
