You Me At Six are “Back Again.”

The British rockers have officially returned to Boston, and they made sure to enter on a bang.

After their last show in Mass, which took place at The Middle East in Cambridge in 2017, there has been relative silence from You Me At Six in regards to a US tour.

But, just when their return seemed uncertain, the band announced both a 10 year anniversary UK tour of their debut album “Take Off Your Colours” AND their first US tour in two years- aptly titled the “Back Again” Tour.

And there was no better place to kickoff the tour than  Boston, MA Thursday night at Brighton Music Hall.

Touring with indie pop rockers Machineheart and Dreamers, You Me At Six were well supported for their debut show by two bands who knew how to pump up the crowd.

First up for the night was Machineheart, a four piece band from Los Angeles, California.

Featuring members Jake Randle on bass and synthesizer, Carman Kubanda on guitar, Harrison Allen on drums, and singer Stevie Scott, Machineheart brought a touch of dreamy and sunny LA vibes to an otherwise “cold night.”

A mix of PVRIS’s Lynn Gunn and Florence Welch, Scott’s voice added a beautiful yet haunting sound to their mix of 80s snyth pop and 90s rock sounds.

And though they have only one debut album under their belt, which was released just a little over two weeks ago, Machineheart was not lacking in talent or fans in the crowd.

With everyone swaying in time to their beats and watching in awe as all members sang and played multiple instruments, the entire audience- even those who were new to Machineheart’s music- were having a good time.

Ending their set with their single “Alter,” Machineheart left the crowd feeling loose and ready to dance with the other California natives, Dreamers.

A three piece band, featuring lead singer Nick Wold alongside Jacob Wick on drums, and Mark Nelson on bass and keyboard, Dreamers was met with loud screams from eager fans as they took the stage to “Mr. Brightside” by The Killers.

“We drove all the way from Los Angeles to play for you tonight,” Wold announced to the crowd. “Jet Lag is catching up but no! We will fight through it!”

The New York natives first gained mainstream attention after their single “Sweet Disaster” reached the #7 spot on the Billboard Alternative chart in 2016. Since then, the band have moved to LA ,released two EPs, and are set to release their sophomore album sometime in April.

In anticipation of their upcoming release, the band treated Thursday night’s fans to a sneak peak at their new music.

“We are going to play a song off our new album for the first time right now,” they announced to many screams and applause. “It is called ‘Die Happy.’”

But nothing hyped up the crowd as much as their final song, “Sweet Disaster,” which had nearly everyone singing at the top of their lungs and dancing like there was no tomorrow.

The crowd was properly warmed up and ready for the main act: You Me At Six.

Taking the stage and immediately launching into “Fast Forward,” You Me At Six were officially back, and the crowd was loving them.

“Our job is to make sure you have a fucking good night,” lead singer Josh Franceschi told the crowd after they finished their first song and continued onto upbeat crowd favorites “Lived A Lie,” “Reckless” and “Loverboy.”

Alongside Matt Barnes on Bass, Max Helyer and Chris Miller on Guitar, and Dan Flint on drums, Franceschi took a second to introduce the band and himself to the crowd, and apologize for taking so long to get back to beantown.

But, even though the crowd was happy to have their favorite band back, that didn’t stop some from heckling Franceschi after he miscalculated how long the band had been away for.

“It’s been a long time since we’ve been in Boston,” Franceschi announced. “Last time we were in Boston was four years ago.”

“That’s not true! Two years ago!” A fan yelled.

“Don’t you dare call me a liar!” Franceschi laughed before he admitted defeat. “Do any of you remember? Because I don’t.”

Following on the release of their sixth full length album “IV” in October, the rockers have been in non stop tour mode since the fall. With their 10 year anniversary tour, followed by a European headlining tour, the “Back Again” Tour is the band’s last stretch before a break. But that did not stop them from giving it their all and bringing along the jokes.

“This is called the Back Again Tour because we thought it was funny, you know, because we were coming back AGAIN,” Franceschi joked, much to the groans of his bandmates and some audience members. “But it turns out only we found it funny.”

The band also paused towards the end of their set to let new fans and first time concert goers in on the secret of “the encore.”

“At some point in the night, the band will announce ‘This is our final song’ and the crowd will scream. The band knows its a lie. The crowd knows its a lie. But sometimes we need our egos built back up, so we will leave the stage, and only come back out when you’ve sufficiently screamed our names and asked for more music.” Franceschi explained. “That is called the encore. So even though we will say this is our ‘final song,’ we’ll be back to play more later.”

The band then ended their set on crowd favorites “Bite My Tongue,” “Straight to My Head,” and the ultimate finale, “Underdog,” leaving the crowd longing for more, but also exhausted from going so hard for the duration of their set.
