In anticipation of her debut EP Who’s Counting? set to release this spring, singer/songwriter Andria Piperni has just released a new single. “Settle” is one of six songs featured in the upcoming Who’s Counting? and was produced and mixed by Chris Vincent.

Once again, Piperni’s talent as a storyteller shines in “Settle.” After the release of her last single “Above the Clouds” back in September, I’ve been eagerly anticipating her next release. Even though “Settle” is completely different in terms of messaging and overall vibe, it does not disappoint.

The best way to describe, “Settle” is that it’s soul consuming and full of (romantic) angst, in the most intriguing way. It’s the kind of single you want to listen to late at night, while the rest of the world is quiet and you have time to sit back and analyze all of your life decisions. At least, that was my experience when I first listened to it and highly recommend it.

“Settle” is similar to “Young and Beautiful” by Lana Del Ray in a lot of ways, especially how it confronts love and relationships head on. Facing reality, especially in 2021, is never easy and “Settle” acknowledges that sentiment but also gets down to the all-important question, “could we be better?” As we are all trying to elevate ourselves this year, either through relationships, career, lifestyle, etc, “Settle” is that wake up call we all need, even if we can’t admit to it just yet. Even the cover photo by Calli Makaveli of Piperni in front of a brick wall with the sunlight shining down on her, fits the mood perfectly.

The instrumentals play a huge role in “Settle” and elevate the emotional impact right out the gate. Not only does it compliment Piperni’s vocals, it also does extremely well on its own. In fact, one of my favorite moments is at the 2:36 mark, the instrumental follows the chorus and stirs up anticipation for just the right amount of time. The beat of the drums is consistent with the vibe of “Settle” while the piano is reminiscent of Piperni’s artistic style, and are brought together effectively by Vincent.

Piperni is definitely an emerging artist worth paying attention to. From her vocal style to her storytelling, her music evokes honest and relatable emotions that some argue are missing from the industry today. There are no limits to the topics she addresses or the passion she has, and those will certainly be strong assets to her upcoming EP.

“Settle” is out everywhere now! Buy and stream wherever you get your music. Be on the lookout this spring for Piperni’s debut EP Who’s Counting?. To learn more about Piperni, visit her official website.
